I’ve officially been wrapped on the feature film I recently worked on called Love Arcadia directed by Lawrence Gan. The production went very smoothly, and the entire cast & crew were very professional. Starting the new year off right by signing with a new theatrical and commercial agent as well as booking a supporting role in a SAG feature film!
I’m coming home after almost 4 months of being abroad working on a Michael Mann film in Hong Kong, visiting world heritage religious sites in Indonesia, witnessing Asia’s wealth in Singapore, scuba diving in Malaysia, motorbiking down the coast of Vietnam and learning what I didn’t learn in school about the US-Vietnam war, Muay Thai kickboxing in Thailand and trekking the 10th highest mountain range in the world ascending to over 5,400 meters (17,000ft) in the Annapurna Circuit of Nepal!
Learned so much about the way others live (most importantly EAT), reflected my privileges as an American and met many great people. Now it’s back to my favorite place on earth, Los Angeles to artistically express my new life experiences through my love for the craft of acting. Here’s my 10 favorite photos.
Dominic Zhai is a Chinese-American actor born in Madison, Wisconsin with bilingual fluency in American English and Mandarin Chinese. He graduated with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with an emphasis in Biology, Chinese, Theatre & Drama.
Dominic personally helped to coach Tang Wei (Lust, Caution dir. Ang Lee) alongside Aaron Speiser (Coach of Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Gerard Butler) for two months in director Michael Mann’s latest film, Cyber. He worked in both Los Angeles and Hong Kong closely alongside Michael Mann, Chris Hemsworth, Wang Leehom and Viola Davis.
Dominic has studied and performed theater & drama since high school. In college, Dominic founded and directed a multicultural theater group. He continues to study under coach Aaron Speiser and improvisation at Upright Citizens Brigade.
In addition, Dominic is a mixed martial artist trained in Muay Thai at Tiger Muay Thai camp in Phuket, Thailand as well as Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
